Nottinghamshire County Show
On the second full weekend in May, the Nottinghamshire County Show is held on the Newark Showground. Nottinghamshire FWI have a presence at the show, providing refreshments, freshly prepared on the premises, sandwiches, rolls and snacks, homemade cakes, teas, coffees and soft drinks and a quiz. Cookery and craft competitions for individual members and a competition for each WI to enter.

2019 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
The schedule, depict one of the many of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, include 2 craft items of different media.
The team, Ann, Jenny, Pauline and Rose. Jenny made the felted White Rabbit and the felted Cheshire Cat. Ann made the Queen of Hearts, did the staging using a willow branch and artificial grass. Pauline made the sugar craft mushroom, caterpillar and hookah. Rose made the cut-out Alice, the pocket watch and the beaded Talking Flowers.

The schedule, depict a decade, display an old family recipe, a tea cosy in any medium and a further craft item in keeping with the era chosen.
The team, Ann, Janet, Jenny, Pauline and Rose. Janet made the Margaret Thatcher handbag tea cosy. Rose put together the collage. Jenny made the cross-stitch Rubik's Cube. Pauline reproduced the recipe. Ann helped with the staging and ideas.

The schedule, depict For Home and Country, motto of the Women's Institute, using fresh flowers and foliage, incorporate a craft item and accessories. The flower arrangement and the staging only were judged.
The team, Ann, Janet, Margaret, Pauline and Rose. Janet made the counted thread cross stitch carrier for the jam, Rose machine embroidered the motto and edged the jam pot covers and made the beaded bumble bee. Margaret did the magnificent arrangement of flowers in traditional WI colours. Ann and Pauline helped with the accessories, staging and ideas.

Gained the most votes and were presented with the Public Choice Trophy

Dorewood WI, The WI For All Seasons
The schedule, promote your WI, must include a programme
The team, Ann, Dilys, Janet, Pauline and Rose. Janet painted and be-ribboned the maypole, covered the base and back board. Pauline printed and cut the labels to represent Dorewood's activities, members hobbies and work in the community. Rose did the photography and put together the decoupage back board and made the Dorewood tree from acetate, felt trunk embellished with embroidery thread by Janet, and paper maple leaves. Ann and Dilys helped with ideas.
The maple leaf was used as a homage to Canada, where the WI began in 1897 in Stoney Creek, Ontario.

Janet worked the white with blue hearts bobbin lace garter. Pauline designed and made the sugar-craft bouquet of coral roses, stephanotis and ivy leaves. Dilys dressed the Bride in ivory silk with a coral bow and the Groom in top hat and tails with coral cravat, constructed the church porch and baseboard. Ann provided the inspiration and ideas.

The schedule, a collage, a novelty cake and a craft item.
The team, Ann, Dilys, Janet, Pauline and Rose. Dilys designed and made the backboard, with heading and a padded circle to mount the map of Africa. Ann did the collage of the animals and birds on the map of the continent. Pauline made and decorated the 'Jolly Lion' novelty cake. Janet designed and beaded the rope, Rose designed and beaded the King Protea pendant which together made up the Diamonds and Protea Lariat. Janet also did the base board and staging accessories.
Placed 2nd, 1/2 a mark stopped us from getting first place.

The schedule, an A5 advertising flyer, an arrangement of fresh flowers and a craft item.
The team, Ann, Dilys, Heather(J), Janet, Pauline and Rose. Dilys worked a cross-stitch book cover for her favourite book, Pride and Predjudice, Heather did the flower arrangement with music motif accessories, Rose designed and printed the A5 flyer and the mini flyers. Janet constructed the bookcase to hold the flowers and covered the baseboard. Pauline and Ann assisted with the staging.

The team, Dilys, Janet, Heather(B), Pauline and Rose. Dilys worked the cross-stitch sampler of Russian motifs. Janet made the Vostoc 1 spacecraft and the tower, covered with articles from the 12th April, 2011 Pravda, celebrating the 50th anniversary of his momentous flight. Pauline baked the Russian Tea Cakes. Rose downloaded and printed the Pravda. Heather assisted with the staging.

Chelsea
The schedule, a dressed doll, a craft and a cookery item
The team, Janet, Heather(B), Pauline and Rose. Rose dressed the Chelsea Pensioner, in accurate uniform right down to his underwear and the RHS Chelsea flag. Pauline used sugar craft to make the plant pots and the 6 varieties of Auricula, all anatomically correct down to the last petal, and the working model flagpole. Janet baked the Chelsea Buns, and made the garden baseboard. The team constructed the Auricula Theatre.

The team, Brenda, Dilys, Janet, Pauline, Rose and Viv. Dilys did the baseboard with grassy banks and rippling river. Viv made the orange flavoured cordial. Janet made the crochet gloves. Pauline constructed the bridge. Rose dressed the couple and made the picnic basket, champagne and the advertising sign. Brenda assisted with the staging.
