Or, to be precise, Trentbridge House, Beastmarket Hill, Newark, is the Nottinghamshire Federation headquarters, where the office is situated and all the federation committee meetings are held and many of the day courses and lunches. It houses the W.I. shop, a selection of choice gifts, cards, baking sundries, bags, scarves and more, see the opening times to shop. The Nottinghamshire FWI newsletter, published 11 times a year. Dorewood issues The Hornblower to every member free of charge. Contains editorial from your county and sub-committee chairmen, notification of events, news and photos and relevant advertisements. The National Federation of Women's Institutes, NFWI, the governing body based at 104 New Kings Road, Fulham. The Board of Trustees, comprising of up to 15 elected members, from which the Chair, Honorary Treasurer and 2 Vice Chairmen are appointed. Click here to see the words and more information England is divided into 54 county federations, with some large or heavily populated counties being split into 2 or even 3. Our federation is Nottinghamshire, Notts FWI. In addition to the Board of Trustees which are appointed from ordinary members, sub-committees exist for Cookery and Craft, Leisure and Sport, Combined Arts, etc. All local WI events, day courses and activities are organised by these committees. Dorewood belongs to the Newark Castle Group, along with Farndon, Hawton & District, Newark Palace and Newark Fountain. A Group Meeting is held once a year, with a speaker, raffle and light refreshments. W.I. shop bring their cards, stationery, baking sundries, bags and scarves for sale. Every year the National Federation of WIs campaigns on issues to try and persuade HM Government and other bodies to make England and Wales a better place. Campaigns in the past have lobbied on Keeping Britain Tidy, the need for more midwives, saving bees, to name but a few. Denman College was available to all WI members until September 2020 when it was closed. The country house, in a beautiful setting, near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, housed the WI Cookery, Craft and Lifestyle Schools. Residential and day courses on every subject imaginable were held Nottinghamshire had it's own guest room, furnished and equiped by the Federation. This is the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI) learning and resource platform area available free to every paid-up member of the WI in England and Wales. There is so much to do and learn on this system: campaign updates, craft and cookery sections, training for WI officers, and so on. There are chat forums where you can talk to and share experiences with other WI members anywhere in England and Wales.
